Solar towers for efficient energy production

NORD Drivesystems has supplied over 700 SI-series UNIVERSAL worm gear units to align solar panels at the Rodenäs Solar Park located in Northern Germany. Each gear unit is controlled to drive a 16m2 solar panel to precisely track the sun at a rate of 4 degrees every 15 minutes.
 

Robust gearboxes and geared motors

Drive systems from NORD provide high precision and a long lifespan owing in particular to the geared motors' UNICASE design, which was developed by the company in 1981. UNICASE housings are made from one single-piece casting with integrated bearing seats – there are no sealing surfaces that could deflect under the effect of torque or radial forces, which eliminates gearset misalignment problems.
