When using digital servo controllers, an enormous increase in efficiency and quality can be achieve in relation to conventional drives. When winding on and off endless material, e.g. the material usually has to be transported at a constant speed in order to avoid tearing, even if the radius of the roll increases or decreases. With conventional drives, the speed of the material roller is adjusted based on a measurement technique that continuously detects the diameter of the roller. Digital servo controllers, on the other hand use a winding computer, which eliminates the need for conventional measurements of the roll radius.
After retrofitting these systems with NORD digital servo controllers, productivity increases of a third and improved product quality are typical results.
Since conveyor lines in the textile industry often bridge large distances, it is ideal for a modular design of both the machine and the system. In the same way, the roller conveyors and belt conveyors also require a decentralized control. Trio SK 300E is a particularly efficient and economical solution already in the planning, installation and commissioning phases: It combines a frequency inverter SK 300E, motor and gearbox into one unit, and integrates a line filter as well. The frequency inverter unit is plugged onto the motor terminal box. This integrated design eliminates the need to shield motor cables and thereby guarantees the drive meets EMC guidelines. The frequency inverter has IP66 enclosure protection and has an integrated heat sink which handles an ambient temperature range of 10°F to 120°F. The frequency inverter is further protected thermally, has an integrated brake chopper and a driver unit for an electromagnetic brake. The SK 300E resists voltage spikes and is over 97 percent efficient.
