Decentral drive technology simplifies the layout of plants and minimizes the required space and expenses. NORD has developed the flexible NORDAC DA decentral drive concept which serves to relocate electronic con-trol technology from control cabinets directly to the drive. NORDAC SK 1XXE motor switches, for instance, are directly integrated into the motor's terminal box and carry out simple actuation tasks. The SK 140E activates the motor for one running direction, the soft starter SK150E additionally controls startup and spin-out behavior, while the SK 160E reverse motor switch enables wear-free activation for both running directions. All motor switches are IP55 protected (IP66 models are optionally available) and can be fitted with an integrated brake recti-fier. By default, they also feature a thermistor control for full thermal motor pro-tection.

The NORDAC trio SK 300E, a compact drive solution which combines a motor, a gearbox and a frequency inverter in one housing, is suitable for more complex applications. The IP55 protected trio units (IP66 optionally available) are simply mounted atop and connected to the modified motor terminal box. Specified for power outputs from 0.55 to 4 kW, the SK 300E provides full thermal motor protection and is equipped with an integrated brake chopper as well as an electro-magnetic brake control module. NORDAC SK 750E frequency inverters are suitable for high power requirements and rugged environments. Air-cooled, IP54 protected units and water-cooled IP65 models are available. The inverters are specified for power outputs from 5.5 to 22 kW and feature sensorless current vector control (ISD), a brake chopper and a line filter (for industrial and residential areas). External plug-in technology boxes allow for easy extension and adaptation to various tasks. Additionally, modules for I/O and field bus con-nection enable easy operation, configuration and control. Seamless integration into existing automation environments is ensured by Profibus, CANopen, Interbus, ASi and DeviceNet interface modules.
